The Blog

Some sessions are about celebrating a milestone. Some are about stepping outside your comfort zone.
And some are about healing. This birthday boudoir photography session near Folsom was all three.
What made you decide to book a boudoir session at this point in your life?
I booked my boudoir session during a really important turning point. I was coming out of a very abusive relationship and had internalized a lot of toxic things that were said to me about my body and my worth. I wanted to do something completely out of my comfort zone, something that could help chip away at that negativity and help me reconnect with myself. I also wanted the photos as a birthday gift to myself, something that reminded me I’m still beautiful and deserving.
How did you feel walking into your session versus how you felt walking out?
Walking in, I was excited but nervous like most people probably are. Walking out, I felt confident, proud, and surprisingly comfortable in my own skin. By the middle to end of the shoot, you honestly forget you’re practically naked because you feel so at ease and supported.
Was there a moment during the shoot where something shifted for you? If so, what was it?
Yes. I have an autoimmune condition and chronic pain, so some poses took time for me to get comfortable in. Deb was incredibly patient and understanding, and that made such a difference. At some point, the focus shifted from how my body felt to how strong and beautiful it is. That was huge for me.
Before your session, what worries or fears did you have, if any?
I worried about feeling awkward, not knowing how to pose, and whether my body would look “good enough.” I also worried about my physical limitations. All of that faded quickly once the shoot started.
How did seeing your images for the first time make you feel?
Seeing my images made me feel beautiful. Truly. Since both of my shoots, I’ve noticed a real shift in how I see myself and my body. I’m kinder to myself. I feel more confident. It helped me reconnect with self-love in a way I didn’t expect.
If you were talking to someone on the fence about doing a session, what would you want them to know?
I’d tell them that Deb creates such a safe, welcoming space. It honestly feels like home. She’s incredibly talented, so sweet, and genuinely cares about your experience. The prep guide she provides is amazing, and I loved having the option for professional hair and makeup (though I chose to do my own). I brought a whole duffel bag of my own lingerie and felt completely supported in every choice I made.
This experience isn’t just about photos. It’s about healing, confidence, and choosing yourself. I’m already planning my third shoot for my next birthday. Welcoming 36 with Limitless Boudoir and documenting a year of self-love and healing is officially my new tradition.
